Injury

Normally, I write my blogs from my computer in our office/playroom but today I am blogging from the comfort of my couch. I have been here except for sleeping and trips to the bathroom for almost 3 days.

On Thursday morning I was walking along with my sister, two kids, and two dogs. We usually walk to the end of the street and then turn around and walk back. It is a little over a mile and is a nice walk. Well, right when we turned to walk back the other way I got this brilliant idea I was going to run my sister's dog and Paisley (in a stroller) a short distance.

Just as I was about to stop I tripped on a small pothole in the road and fell down and skinned my knee and twisted my ankle. The pain was pretty bad but, I decided to get up and walk home. I made it half way and then chose to drive my sister's car the rest of the way (my brother in law was parked there while he mowed a neighbor's lawn.)

By the time I got out of the car and walked into the house I could move no further. I flopped on the couch and Britt the sweetie he is went into the bathroom and got a wash cloth to wipe off my leg. I took off my shoe and saw a really swollen ankle. My sister then made it back from the walk and got me a bag of frozen peas to ice it.

I sat awhile and it wasn't feeling too bad so, I got this ingenious idea to get in the pool to exercise my foot. I got in the pool and it was painful but not terrible. Then when I went to get out, the ladder wasn't too bad but by the time I got to the house I was in very bad pain. It took everything to get dressed and hop back to the couch. I stayed there until dinner time and then getting to the dinner table, I was almost in tears. I decided at that point I wasn't going to try to walk on it for a while.

My sister Angie took care of me and the kids the rest of the day Thursday and most of the day Friday. Then when Adam got home Friday at 8:45pm he took over. I have fallen 3 times by losing my balance. Once while I was trying to hop holding onto Adam and then twice today since Adam got me some crutches. He says I am the worst crutch user ever. I guess so but, they are a little hard to get used to.

Hopefully, soon I will be able to walk around on my own. Sitting on the couch is for the birds. I am not one to like to just sit still. I very thankful though to have such loving people around me to take care of me and the kids while I am not able to do as much.

Well I guess it wasn't a trick. I am so sorry about the injury to your ankle, I have never hurt mine but I broke a toe. And if it hurts anything like that I feel for you. I am glad that you have some people to take care of you. I am told that a sprain is worse than a break but maybe you will feel better soon. It is true about the potato, cut it in half and wrap it around your ankle, it helps with the swelling. When Mike played softball we use to do that to help him.
I hope you are better when Bobbi comes.

OUCH!

I hate that you hurt yourself. And even worse, right before you are set to have company!

I am glad that you are being taken care of by people that love you. What a blessing! I hope you feel better soon and have more mobility.
