For the most part, I am a pretty organized person. I try to put things were they belong and clean up after myself even if I don't feel like it. I will not speak on behalf of my other family members. Some how they think a magical fairy is supposed the appear and tidy up for them. I am trying to teach my children to put their toys away before they get more out. Sometimes they do sometimes they don't.
With all that said, there is one room in the house that seems to be the dumping ground for odds and ends that don't have a home at the moment. That room is our laundry room. Grant it we don't really use our attic for storage and we don't have basements in Florida, so that is really the only place that seems to get cluttered. I organize it only to come back a week or two later and see stuff everywhere.
When I was given the opportunity to review Pretty Neat: the buttoned-up way to get organized & let go by Alicia Rockmore and Sarah Welch of Get Buttoned Up, I was interested to see what tips the book had to offer.
Pretty Neat is a handbook that embraces the chaotic reality that lies beneath org porn’s glossy veneer, offering pithy anecdotes and candid advice from experts and real women alike on tackling organizational inertia. Funny, irreverent, entertaining, and helpful, the book covers all facets of clutter-control, from tried-and-true tips for conquering to-do lists and wrangling family schedules to ideas on excavating inboxes, eliminating excuses, and delegating housework. Most importantly, Pretty Neat insists that women need to stop holding themselves to impossibly high standards, and focus instead on defining their own, realistic organizational goals. Full of engaging examples from everyday women, Pretty Neat offers readers unorthodox, surprisingly simple methods to reduce their org porn–fueled stress, insisting that perfection is impossible — and unnecessary — in this messy, unpredictable world called real life.
My Thoughts:
Pretty Neat shows you ways to make your whole life more efficient. With topics ranging from Mastering Home Cooked Meals to Tempering Toy Tsunamis there is something in this book for everyone. I found this book really easy to read which is great because who needs to read a big thick book to get their life running smoothly. There are great tips with easily adaptable steps to help even the busiest person take control of their life.

That is awesome! We have a magical cleaning fairly that comes by every day.... I wish there were more of her to go around. :) She stays too busy with kids most of the time to get to the real nitty gritty as much as she needs to! ;) Our laundry room is a nightmare most of the time as well because that is the room we enter into. It is just easy to drop things there and/or stage returns and other things that need to be done there. I have big plans for the space, but those plans involve money. Since money is hard to come by, it will wait.
I went to the site and I think the valuables kit is awesome! that is something I could/would really use. I need to make one and leave it in an easy to get to space. Great post.

Following from Mingle Monday. Would love for you to swing by 2 Against 1 - Twins if you get a chance. Happy Monday!
I'd love the Life.doc folder to organize all those things that are VERY important in case of a crisis. Having that organized would really take a load off my mind.
