New Way Of Life

Well, I wasn't sure if I was going to post about this on here or not.  I mean, I don't want to set my self up for failure in front of who ever reads this but I do need something and/or someone to be accountable to.  As you saw in one of my previous posts Adam and I are starting a new healthier way of eating.  We have talked about getting "healthier" and losing weight for a long time.  The norm was to talk about, try to implement it and then ultimately fail.  So very frustrating.  I am usually a pretty self motivated person but in this case I just had no motivation.

Right before the holidays, we decided that after all the busyness was over, that we would really get our butts in gear.  We weren't sure how but we knew we needed to make a change for the better.  The holidays came and went.  We still didn't have a plan.  Then one day I happened to be searching around the internet for different diets/ eating plans and I came across The Diet Solution Program.  I really liked everything that the creator of the program was saying.  Some things I had heard before and some things were new to me.  I told Adam about the program and then decided to purchase it.

I have to tell you.  At first I Loved the program, then not so much and now I am back to loving it again.  I guess my body was just getting used to everything.  I have been doing it for  2 weeks now and have lost about 8 lbs.  Not that much but it is a start in the right direction.

Here are some of the things we have changed:

  • No processed foods (that means basically shopping around the perimeter of the store)
  • Use Unrefined Sea Salt
  • Only cook with Coconut Oil, Butter, and Olive Oil (no hydrogenated oils)
  • Only use Stevia or raw honey as a sweetener
  • We eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks (to help regulate our blood sugar and keep us satisfied)
  • Our portions are smaller
  • We drink a lot more water.
  • Take a fish oil supplement
  • Some organic but mostly just fresh fruits and vegetables (the diet says to use all organic but it is just too pricey)
  • Eggs only from hens that aren't given antibiotics

Good luck! My husband and I are trying to eat healthier too. We're not doing a diet plan though, more like easing into it with gradual changes.

I'm trying to eat more organic and get over the higher cost of foods - looking at is as spending more upfront to stay healthy, rather than on healthcare costs down the road.

Rachel,

You are probably right organic is better than hospital or Dr. bills. Thanks for the encouragement :)

Congratulations! 8 pounds and a healthier lifestyle! **cheer, cheer!** This is really similar to how we ate growing up, and I think the whole grains, produce, and lack of sugar are really good for your body. Eat simple and be happy. ;) Keep up the good work!
