Stepping Stones Together

I was recently given the opportunity to try and review a reading program for children ages 3-7 called Stepping Stones Together.  The founder, Erika Burton Ph.D., created the program to address a needed resource she could not find when searching for a parent/ child reading program to help her own children.  Stepping Stones Together keeps in mind how busy parents are and allows them to help assist their child in learning to read in just 15- 20 minutes a day. 

My son Britt (age 5) really likes this program because he can choose between several different themes.  His number one interest is dinosaurs right now, so that made him really happy when he came across books with dinosaur pictures.  He looks forward to our time together reading each day and this online reading program adds a new level to his excitement.  

As a member, you and your child are intially given access to Level A books.  You read each book with your child, print out and complete a daily writing activity, play any additional games with the book flashcards, and then click complete on the website.  A green check mark is displayed across from their completed book each time the child enters the site.  Britt is very proud to see all of his check marks.  Once all of the level A books are read, you and your child can move on to Level B.

Britt and I have been using this program for several weeks now and I can really see improvement in his reading skills.  I look forward to continuing with Stepping Stones Together and furthering his reading abilities.
